The operation status of the electric motor will be manifested through characteristics such as meter indications, temperature fluctuations, and dynamic changes. Therefore, with careful supervision, abnormal conditions can be detected in a timely manner. In addition to the supervision and maintenance items stipulated in the regulations, there is a particular emphasis on the following points.
1. Current and voltage
During normal operation, the current should not exceed the allowable value. Generally, electric motors are only equipped with an ammeter in one phase. For low-voltage motors, if necessary, clamp type ammeters can be used to measure the three-phase current separately. The asymmetry of the current is allowed to be 10%. Check the voltage, usually using the bus voltmeter connected to the motor for monitoring. The voltage can be changed within the range of -5% to 10% of the additional voltage, and the asymmetry of the voltage is allowed to be 5%.
2. Temperature
The manufacturer of Nanyang explosion-proof motors stated that in addition to the motor's own faults such as winding short circuits and iron chip short circuits, which may cause some high temperatures, excessive loads, poor ventilation, and high environmental temperatures can also cause temperature increases in various parts of the motor. The temperature of the winding can be measured using the resistance temperature measurement method or using pre embedded thermocouples during motor manufacturing. The temperature of the iron core, bearings, and slip rings can be measured using an alcohol thermometer. When necessary during the operation, an alcohol thermometer can be attached to the motor casing to monitor the temperature, but the operating temperature should be lower than the allowable high temperature value of the motor. The allowable value of temperature rise should refer to relevant regulations or manufacturer's rules.
3. Dynamics, oscillation, odor
When the motor is operating normally, the sound should be uniform and free from noise. The oscillation should be controlled within the allowable values of the regulations based on the motor speed. If you feel numb when touching the bearing area with your hand, it indicates that the oscillation has been severe and should be further measured with an oscillation meter. If there is a burnt odor or smoke near the motor, the cause should be identified immediately and a method should be chosen.
4. Bearing operation status
Mainly pay attention to the lubrication condition of the bearings, whether the temperature is too high, and whether there is any noise. Large electric motors should pay special attention to the normal operation of the lubricating oil system and cooling water system.
5. Other conditions
Wire wound motors should also pay attention to the working condition of the brushes on the slip ring.
